I have this awesome street photograph of a young couple walking through the snow into The Loop, Chicago’s Central Business District. This was on St. Valentine’s Day of course.
Part of what I love about this street image isn’t just about the image. It represents a lot of things for me that has just as much to do with my growth in photography, an artist, this website, and as a person.
This is my final image. I’ve had several versions before it. I’ve gone this way and that on my feelings. I set out that day hoping to get a good image of a couple. It’s my way of celebrating St. Valentine’s day.
I also participate in a group called The Arcanum. I’ve had some of their masters review the first version of this street photograph that I put out there. I had some encouraging words. It felt like I could take this further than I was willing to try at first. That was an important lesson, too.
It also told me that maybe I’m starting to produce work that can be pushed. You see, when I started down this road in late 2013, I had to play by the rules. I didn’t know what a good street photograph was except that I liked good photographs! The first of these following images is relatively safe. But turning up the contrast and playing into the noise had great effect on the mood. The mood would have fallen flat without the people.
Here is a little slideshow of the many versions I’ve had.

I am now approximately two and a half years into my photographic journey. I have learned a lot about taking pictures, processing images, meeting people, looking for light, using social media. Photography for me was born in solitary moments I found in Yellowstone National Park. But it has brought me in to a vast and very social community of photographers. This community has helped me see photographically. It has helped me see differently. And I’ve been able to see new opportunities as well.
Currently, you can see that my web site is going through major changes. If this is your first time here, welcome! If you’ve been following me from the beginning, thank you!
I have a lot of posts brewing up in my head. I feel that a lot of my thoughts are going to be a mix of Present, Past, and Future of Full Perspective Photos.
Social media will be used a lot. Please look me up on my “Contact Me” link up top. Chances are I’m on your preferred social network.
Thank you again,
